Artist Statement
Genece is a digital painter in the strictest sense, which differs from other forms of digital art in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model or painting onto an existing photograph or scanned image. It is an original construction "from scratch", which has the same excitement and creative magic as painting onto canvas with oils or acrylics. It requires the same connection that is between the intuitive self and hand/eye coordination. As a part of Genece's signature style, she produces her art onto museum grade canvas with gallery wrap (floating frames available) or archival fine art paper. Each piece is enhanced to maintain the integrity of originality and offered in small limited editions of 50. Genece’s background in technology marketing for 20+ years introduced her to the early days of digital art. Passionate about technology and the advancement of digital art capabilities, she progressed in mastering illustration and painting techniques. Over time, she discovered a greater pleasure through traditional painting in the non-traditional way of digital painting. Three years ago, Genece left her consulting practice in order to deeply immerse herself in the journey of producing fine art full time. Her art is shown in public and private collections and represented by galleries and art consultants. She exhibits and sells at art festivals throughout the U.S. What does "Shibui" mean? Genece's online gallery, Shibui Studio is designed with an understated elegance to showcase the art. Shibui is a Japanese term that means the type of beauty that doesn't need announcement; its quality speaks for itself.

Genece's Technique Application Tools:
Digital Painting Techniques:
Why digital painting? Digital painting is not linear which means that I am able to paint in layers and then I am able to edit my art quite independently. What’s more, with digital painting it is possible for me to simply redo or even undo my brush strokes and this of course ensures a more non-linear process. However, choosing to paint digitally means I have to constantly study a variety of techniques that are basically drawn from traditional painting." |
